Father's Day is the day dedicated to fatherhood and parental relations. This day is celebrated around the globe on different days, however in most of countries like India, Japan, Pakistan, Canada, France and United States Father's Day is celebrated on third Sunday of June.Father's Day is the day, when you recall all the moments of your childhood. You remember some sweet and unforgettable moments that you spent with your father or parents. This is the special day, when you greet your father with special words of love and care. Father's Day History
Father's Day is converted in a festival these days, but the history of Father's Day is not new. The celebration of Father's Day started in United States earlier in 20th century. It was to complement Mother's Day in celebrating male parent and fatherhood.
The first Father's Day celebration was held at Spokane, Washington, at the Young Men's Christian Association. This community is also known as YMCA.
Who Started Father's Day
Sonora Smart Dodd is considered to be the founder of Father's Day. She was born in Jenny Lind, Sebastian County, Arkansas on 18 February, 1882.
Hearing about Mother's Day, she suggested her pastor that there should be a special day to respect fathers. She wanted to celebrate this day on 5 June, because it was her father's birthday, but the pastor didn't have sufficient time to make arrangements for the celebrations,
Finally it was decided to celebrate Father's Day on 3rd Sunday of June. Many local clergymen welcomed this idea and on 19 June, 1910 the day was celebrated as Father's Day.
Father's Day Dates
Father's Day is celebrated on different dates in whole world. Like in Russia it is celebrated as Defender of the Fatherland Day on 23 February. In Belgium, Croatia, Switzerland, Italy, Spain and Portugal, the Father's Day is celebrated on 19 March.
In Romania it is held on 2nd Sunday of May, in Tonga on 3rd Sunday of May and in Germany on Ascension Day.
